Obama Scraps Moon, Tech programs for . . . Jobs?

President Obama has finally caved to creating non-government jobs in the private sector. Unfortunately for Americans, it is in the worst place possible. While stumping for government spending for healthcare, banks, automakers and subsidies for unions, the Obama administration is cutting the most technically aggressive portion of NASA, the Constellation program designed to replace the shuttle and make use of the International Space Station for future trips to the moon and Mars.
Let's see, scrapping a perfectly good space program and it's tech jobs to pay for trillions in deficit spending for union jobs and banks. Paying the gangster Russians for payload space to complete the space station while they flex their military muscles against former soviet democracies. How's that hope and change working for ya' all?

"The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program. And if we become extinct because we don't have a space program, it'll serve us right!"
Larry Niven, quoted by Arthur Clarke
in interview at space.com, 2001
